This is a must read, for anyone who has or is planning to build a shelter. Both Canadian and US governments are cracking down on doomsday sayers and those who would rather be prepared for anything. If you own a shelter, especially if its underground, they are asking people to inform the government and this entails not only the record of it, but it must be inspected for "safety". Another note to it, is you are only limited to 72 hours supply of food in the shelter that must have at least a 5 year expiration period and no MRI allowed if you are in Canada. My suggestion is that you DO NOT tell ANYONE about your shelter and that you perform your oxygen tests yourself by using an oxygen monitor over a 48 hour period, install carbon monoxide detectors and smoke alarms. Point of an emergency shelter is that it keeps you safe and no one knows about it!

puck the government, I,m mean who would tell them. if we don't even tell our extended family. But then again there is a lot of stupid people out there. Remember the ice storm of 1998 people were bring in there BBQ to heat there house and dead of the fumes.

People are incredibly stupid in general. Luckily they will be the first ones to die after 120 hours into a crisis. By 1 month in, all the stupid people would be dead, and that's when you need to be on your toes with all you cross paths with. The longer a crisis lasts, the more resourceful and dangerous people will become, because of desperation.
