Wow! Did the world end prematurely! It's so quiet lately so many people havent been on in months, no continuing dialogue.... Shouldn't we be talking more now that we are in 2012?! Has everyone bought into this is just another y2k... cause you know beyond 2012, there are other realities, fossil fuels depleting, pandemics, a world war, all kinds of natural disasters that dont have to end the world, but just shake a city, state/province, country to its foundation and wide spread mayem and panic can destroy your local society without destroying world society... just look at japan after that monster quake, or ask Arthur about his experience from the Chilean quake that also caused a tsunami but also destroyed his neighbourhood and house... guys start sharing your thoughts, opinions, hopes, dreams and information, before the grim reaper comes knocking on your door and its too late.... ill stick around awaiting your replies... i know you will ant bee, we canadians are reliabl

Well is more less quiet all over in cyber space the last 1/2 year!
By myself i have used 1 1/2 year on preparation deep in the Forest of Chile. 25 Acre more less forest, cleaning up the area for food production take lot of time.
I'm not afraid of quake, it have been lot of them, and it's not killing!
Whats killing is where you live? close to the sea and high building.
Due to that I build a new house (soon finish) of wood. Wood is more elastic. One floor building with light weighted ceiling, if it shakes you don't want to have heavy thing falling in your head.
I now have about 60 fruit trees, and about 30 different vegetables, and going to plant nut trees in May.
1/5 of the land will go to food production, the rest will be native forest. As I learn more, it look like I have my own natural drugstore.

Using lot of money on forest property, can look very stupid? but if northing happen I have wood with a lot of value. Forest and farm production is not so much affected by inflation, so I will earn the same in the future as I do today!
I lived here in the bushes for 18 months now, and will never go back to the urban life again. Clean air, water, food, no stress, I should have done this 20 years ago?

I think we will have a combination of geologic events and war.
There have been some volcano eruption here the last year, but due to the pacific and wind direction the ashes blow over to Argentina.
I think the next 4 year will be hard times for everyone, and not all will make it!
Earth quake
Volcano eruption
Sun storm
Weather
War
Famine
Economy
Due to changes in different aspect humanity will change to.
I hope that the changes will be mentally, so the human get more humble to each other and mother earth!

It's nice to hear from you Arthur, and I'm happy to hear that you've been able to rebuild and that you've planned for the future. I wish I had the luxury to grow year round, and have a large variety of fruit trees to plant, sadly only trees that grow in my climate are apples, cherries, plums, and various nut trees like walnut and acorn (oak).

Btw I have an awesome acorn-butter recipe which is so tasty and it was given to me by an old native lady that lived next door to me when i lived in Winnipeg years ago. I learned the Cree are the inventors of what is now peanut butter, but they originally used acorns. Back on topic now...

I think after we all deal with true hardships and watch others suffer, we will evolve mentally to a better understanding how fragile and how much we truly take for granted in our lives. The true test will being able to pass this on to the next generations. Ask anyone under 25yo about world wars, holocaust or even the cold war and they don't understand and don't really care. My niece was doing a highschool project on the great depression and she actually believes this current recession is much worse, until I informed her that welfare did not exist, unions were very rare and about tent cities all over the world that werent full of occupy protesters but people truly homeless. I also explained thats how Heinz Ketchup became a household staple, due to the fact it was very useful during the first world war to feed soldiers and that they actually used ketchup and relishes to feed the hungry in both Canada and USA during the great depression. Programs like welfare in Canada and food stamps in the USA were products of the great depression... see now im ranting again LOL

Back to my point, True evolution in the human mind and soul is the ability to pass lessons learned to every generation after yours without the message getting lost or else history will repeat itself again and again and each generation will suffer in vain.

Best of luck Arthur, and i'll be around for more discussions
